About the Role
You will be responsible for the delivery of the overall project management function within the Fisheries New Zealand, supporting delivery of a portfolio of wide ranging and varied projects.
In this role you will be working closely with staff, at a range of levels, across Fisheries New Zealand to support the delivery of projects and embed a project management approach to the way Fisheries New Zealand delivers its work programmes. You will establish planning and monitoring processes and systems; identify risks, common issues across projects, synergies across projects, resource bottlenecks; and support project leads to build project management capability and manage post project reviews. The role is supported by a Project co-ordinator responsible for tracking, monitoring and reporting on projects.
Skills and Experience
This role requires a high degree of analytical and time management skills, adaptability, and an eye for detail to recognise and resolve risks and issues. You will also have:
A relevant tertiary qualification or project/programme management qualification
Successful delivery of complex projects on time, within scope and to the desired quality, with inbuilt and effective monitoring and evaluation processes.
Portfolio Management experience
Successful development of project staff by coaching and mentoring
Proven ability to manage relationships including with senior managers and diverse range of external and internal stakeholders
Experience working in central or local government in New Zealand
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills including proven ability to adapt quickly to meet audience needs
Ability to perform in high pressure situations and ambiguous work environments
