Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor in Development Studies - Palmerston North

College of Humanities and Social Sciences
Palmerston North

The Massey University Development Studies programme is housed in the School of People, Environment and Planning, in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences in Manawatū. We were the first Development Studies programme in New Zealand and pride ourselves on our interdisciplinary focus, commitment to excellent teaching and ethical research, and in providing a quality learning experience with strengths in both the theory and practice of development.

Applications are now invited for a two year, fixed-term position in Development Studies at the Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor level.

We are seeking an experienced, dynamic academic to join our team of international development scholars. You must be passionate about teaching, particularly at postgraduate level, have experience with PhD supervision, an established track record in research and have knowledge of the theory and practice of development.

As the successful candidate you contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, coordinate two courses, and provide Masters and PhD supervision. You will also contribute across a range of subject areas (especially climate change and development management) as well as conduct a programme of high impact research and scholarship on international development themes. You will also be allocated a share of the Development Studies programme's administrative responsibilities and be expected to make broader service contributions at College and University level as well as to the community.

This opportunity will see you contribute to the vibrancy of the Development Studies programme, for example, by regularly attending seminars, hosting visitors, liaising with policy makers and practitioners, and assisting with conference organisation and postgraduate workshops and encourage applications from those with strong connections with the Māori and Pasifika community.
