We are looking for a Senior Business Adviser to join us for 2 years on a fixed-term contract until the end of October 2021.
About the role - Kōrero mō te tūranga
This is a brand new role, created to enable us to modernise our business practices, which in turn will support and uplift in our observer and verification capabilities, and enhance our ability to support important fisheries management decision-making processes.
Your vision and organisational excellence will enable our organisation to proactively address critical strategic risks and deliver against its strategic priorities. You’ll bring a wealth of experience, particularly in workforce planning, management and reporting, and have relevant qualifications in business analysis and process improvement. Project management experience is preferred and sector experience is a bonus.
We need someone who is well versed in building and maintaining successful relationships. In this role, you’ll get to work with intelligent and passionate people with diverse backgrounds and skill sets across Fisheries New Zealand and MPI, other New Zealand Government agencies, Tangata Whenua, and industry bodies.

Fisheries New Zealand is a new business unit established within the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) to drive a stronger focus on managing New Zealand's valuable fisheries resources, and their place in the wider marine environment. The Fisheries Science & Information Directorate incorporates Fisheries New Zealand’s data management, science and research, and observer services functions.
