We have multiple full-time permanent opportunities for innovative and relationship focused Senior Policy Analysts and Analysts / Senior Analysts to join our Wellington office.
A number of teams in the Ministry are seeking perspectives that advance Māori priorities for the environment through our work. Our teams include:
Mana Taiao – developing strong partnerships and fostering relationships and opportunities through collaboration with iwi/Māori; and negotiating the environment components of Treaty of Waitangi settlements and implementing settlement commitments;
Freshwater policy – developing and implementing policy that recognises iwi/Māori rights and interests in freshwater;
Environmental reporting –reports are informed by a holistic Māori perspective and captures information that contributes to Māori decision-making and well-being
We are looking for a diverse range of candidates who will have expertise in at least one of these areas:
An understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, Te Ao Māori and engaging with Māori/iwi.
Experience in the negotiation of Treaty of Waitangi settlements and implementation of settlement commitments;
Experience advancing Māori perspectives in policy, preferably within central government, local government or the private sector.
An understanding of Mātauranga Māori as it applies to biophysical domains (freshwater, land and marine);
To be successful in the role of Senior Policy Analyst and Analyst / Senior Analyst you will be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and experience including the ability to inspire, influence and build the capability of others.

Salary range: $86,005 to $116,360 for the Senior role and $60,605 to $81,994 for the Analyst position. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
