Ako Aotearoa is New Zealand's Centre for Tertiary Teaching Excellence. Our mission is to work together with tertiary education providers and agencies to enhance the effectiveness of tertiary teaching and learning.

Established in 2007 by a consortium of tertiary institutions, Ako Aotearoa is funded through contracts with the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) and continues to be hosted by Massey University.

We are focussed on supporting the sector to lift educational capability, including foundation-level adult literacy and numeracy, improve outcomes and enhance the effectiveness of the system for all learners, and in particular, achieve parity of outcomes for Maori and Pasifika learners.

We are seeking an experienced tertiary educator to promote and market our services to the sector, manage stakeholder relationships, achieve income goals, and advance our strategic plan.
The appointee will have a reputation for excellence in tertiary education, an enduring interest in improved teaching practice, the mana to engage successfully with all sectors of tertiary education, evidence of enacting Te Tiriti O Waitangi principles, and, the wisdom and energy to contribute to the Ako Aotearoa team's ever-changing work environment.

This is an operational role managing multiple work streams, servicing the tertiary education organisations in the South Island and contributing to national sector service planning and delivery.

Responsible to the Deputy Director Sector Services the appointee's office will be in Christchurch. This is a part-time (0.8/30hrs) position with potential opportunity for additional fixed-term contracts from time to time depending on the evolving needs in our strategic plan.
