Kaitiakitanga - We lead the Ministry's response to its obligations to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Māori health aspirations and requirements, and equity in health outcomes for all New Zealanders.
The Principal Advisor Equity provides broad thought leadership and quality advice to support and empower the Ministry to set and achieve the Ministry's commitments to achieving Equity.
A core function of this role is to be the subject matter expert contributing to the development of interventions that improve Māori health outcomes and reduce Māori health inequities. Your role will be to administer a sector wide approach to deliver the government and ministry's priorities and objectives. To provision these high quality results you will be adept in a variety of planning tools and methods considering both strategic and tactical options. As the principal you will welcome coaching and mentoring your peers to support their growth and capability within the team. You will be able to demonstrate proficiency in relationship development and achieving through others. A key success factor in this role is a sound knowledge of tikanga Māori and te reo Māori, along with a solid understanding of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
