Patient Transfer Officer - Permanent - Ashburton

Our Ashburton Team is looking for a Patient Transfer Officer to join us in our mission of providing a professional and top-quality patient service! 

Ashburton blends modern day vibrancy with rural town friendliness and as the central hub of the Ashburton District, only 40 Minutes from Rolleston, Ashburton serves as the main commercial and service centre for the surrounding farming district. 

Our Ambulance Station is currently undergoing major renovations which will help bring our station up to date to ensure that we're keeping up with this growth trend.

Now we need you to join us as a Patient Transport Officer! 

Patient Transport Officers have the important responsibility of providing a safe, timely, and comfortable transport of patients to and from various locations throughout the Canterbury area whilst being on hand to provide medical support when needed.

The role of Patient Transport Officer is a hugely diverse role suited for those passionate about patient care.  You'll have the opportunity to interact with a wide variety of people daily so we're looking for empathetic, compassionate people who have a genuine interest in the wellbeing of others. This role plays a huge part in the vested interests by the Canterbury District Health Board and would require maintaining an excellent relationship with the stakeholders through professional communication and planning. The ability to work autonomously and/or as part of a dynamic team is integral to your success.

Sound like you? Then you will need the following:

  • A current First Responder certificate or higher - however for the right person, we will provide training.

  • A full class '1' NZ drivers licence, held for a minimum of 12 months with an excellent driving record and skills.

  • An Advanced or Defensive Driving Certificate completed within the last 3 years would be desirable.

  • Have maintained your volunteer commitment throughout your journey with St John to date or seeking to join us.

  • An excellent knowledge of the local area would be an advantage.

  • Physical fit.

This position is part time working 38 hours per week as follows: 

  • Thursday, Friday - 08:00 - 20:00

  • Saturday - 10:00 - 18:00

  • Every alternate Wednesday - 08:00 - 20:00
