Applications are invited for the position of Kaihere, Te Herenga Waka Marae, located on the Kelburn Campus at Victoria University of Wellington. The role of the marae is to provide Māori cultural support for staff, students and wider community stakeholders. The marae facility is a major focal point for Māori activity at Victoria University and provides opportunities for the practice of tikanga and mātauranga Māori to enhance teaching, learning, research and engagement. Kaihere work as a team to ensure the success of every activity held at the marae.

As well catering and event management, Kaihere will promote tikanga and te reo Māori on the marae and within the wider university community. They will do this by building a range of relationships to encourage greater participation with the marae and by offering support to students, staff and external stakeholders to enhance their experience of mātauranga Māori. Applicants will require proven experience in catering or hospitality and an understanding of the marae service environment. Ability in and high comprehension of te reo and tikanga Māori and mātauranga Māori is required for the role.
